THE BENEFITS AND POWER OF GRATITUDE

Good morning to my spiritual family. Have a great day and week ahead.

I have spoken about the 7 core values that lead to an enlightened, happy and fulfilled life - the GP MAHAN values.

Today I want to focus on the first value:

GRATITUDE

Gratitude is feeling blessed about our life - count our blessings.

It is also being thankful to the people, experiences and the things in life that unlock our infinite potential & possibilities; and that which inspire us to transform scars into stars; impossible into I'm Possible; and pressures in life into treasures (foundation) of life that leads to wisdom knowledge.

Gratitude is a powerful and positive emotional feeling that help us appreciate the niceties of life; and give us the stamina & power to address challenging moments. All are important to improving our health and wellbeing.

Gratitude helps our mind to focus on positive things in life, instead of complaining about this or that.

Gratitude help us be optimistic instead of being pessimistic.

Gratitude takes our mind from focussing on 'fault-lines'. It helps us build 'divine bridges' to transcend the differences and challenging terrains of life.

A review of 70 scientific studies of more 26,000 participants found that Gratitude leads to five key benefits (Smith et al., 2020 - see the study below):

1. Lessens anxiety and depression.

2. Make people healthier - physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

3. Help people feel good - joy, satisfaction, being inspired and optimistic.

4. Take care of themself well and others too - more service oriented, help others - alturism and community centric.

5. Build strong and productive relationships & bonds that help nurture an enlightened and wonderful life, full of optimism and positivity.

Practice Mahan's meditation method diligently and nurture Gratitude; the first quality of the GP MAHAN values. It will lead to a wonderful life.

Santhosam and peace be with you.

SPIRITUALISING SCIENCE' AND 'SCIENTIFYING SPIRITUALITY

QUESTION:

Dear Gurupiran,

Please elaborate on Mahan's answer when posed with this question (Pg 132 of I-God)

Question : Do you believe in Science?

Mahan : "No work which does not conform to Science is useful".

'Coming in form, changing in forms, and forming is this world'

RESPONSE BY GP MAHEN:

The word Science draws it's root word from Latin called 'scienta', which means knowledge.

This knowledge is obtained through observation, introspection, contemplation, reflection and meditation - it is the general knowledge of discovering the truth of the material universe and the laws that govern them at the macro and micro levels.

In other words, science is a systematic study of the underlying structures and behaviour of the natural phenomenon of the universe and forces therein.

In essence, it is a search for truth about the universe, the 'Creator' and the creations therein.

Scientific pursuit entails the following:

1. Formulation of hypothesis of a particular phenomenon.

2. Acquisition of observable information through experiments and 'real experiences' to test and validate the hypothesis.

3. Critical review and examination of the information using rigorous analysis.

4. Making inferences based on the analysis - whether the hypothesis is true or false.

Scientific pursuits gives no room for the following:

1. Pre-judged and biased views - science endeavours to minimize all kinds of biases that can distort the findings and results.

2. Dogmatic views - unfounded belief systems.

Science does not take anything for granted, including the works of great thinkers, saints and sages. It questions everything and validates them via rigorous analysis.

In essence, scientific endeavours are the search for the TRUTH.

Without this truthful search, the discovery of the origin of the universe; forces such as gravity, light and dark matter; laws of electromagnetism; theory of general relativity; elements that make up the periodic table; cures for deadly diseases; the biological life code called DNA; and the devices & gadgets that gives various comforts in our life would have been impossible.

Without scientific truthful search, the discovery of the forces that govern the mind and intellect would have been impossible.

Without scientific truthful search, the discovery of the SELF and the attainment of self-realisation/God realisation would have been impossible.

The above are the line of thinking Mahan would have arrived for him to state the following:

Mahan : "No work which does not conform to Science is useful".

Scientific thinking enables the human mind to understand all the phenomenon that underpins this universe, including who we are as a conscious being.

This is consistent with Mahan's quote on Science enabling the understanding of the dynamism that underpins the external and internal universe.

Mahan: "Coming in form, changing in forms, and forming is this world".

The above quote highlight the only constant in this world is change. We need to take a scientific approach (ICRM - introapection, contemplation, reflection and meditation) to understand what is true reality and what is temporary.

I was fortunate to have lived with Mahan in 1976 and 1980; and seen how he lived his life in a spiritual and scientific ways - very pragmatic life without much pomp and pageantry.

Mahan advised us in 1980 to pursue science; and by doing so, he said we will understand his teachings with greater clarity.

I studied Mathematics - the 'Queen of Sciences' and have learnt to appreciate Swamiji's teachings; and see Mahan and his teachings with a 'scientific lens' - the lens that gives greater spiritual clarity and vision to the universal truth of the 'I-God' philosophy - the philosophy that govern this material universe and the Spiritual universe that underpins our being (Consciousness).

I like this beautiful quote by Albert Einstein that puts Mahan's teachings in perspective:

"Science without religion is lame; and religion without science is blind" - Albert Einstein.

Join us in this journey of SELF discovery using Mahan's "I-GOD" Philosophy with a scientific lens.

Santhosam and Peace be with you.

I-GOD PHILOSOPHY: MEDITATION, MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND NEUROGENESIS - HOW TO BE CREATIVE

In previous satsanghs, I spoke about the things you can do to raise you neural connectivity, which will help you build long-term neural pathways.

This will help you become creative, innovative, happy and enlightened. With this mindset and powerful brain, you will be able to solve all problems.

Here is what you have to do to create neurogenesis (grow your own highway to infinity) in your brain.

1. Undertake deep introspection, contemplation, reflection and meditation regularly - be consistent with your practise.

2. Do challenging tasks such as reading major scriptures or works of great masters and ponder over them. Playing chess and other mental games are good ways to exercise the brain. Listen to soothing music. This helps the mind to calm down.

3. Solve complex problems - this helps the brain to develop new pathways in the brain.

4. Do thought experiments like Mahans and scientists.

5. Cultivate a positive attitude to life.

6. Avoid negative emotions such as anger, hatred, greed, jealousy and others that constricts the mind.

7. Exercise and take long walks. Avoid drugs, alcohol and other intoxicants.

Mahan says that:

Crossing to the abode of enlightenment (universal peace sanctuary) is like crossing a thin hair (50 micron) that is a bridge over the river of fire (mind which is raging ablaze in uncontrolled desires)".

When the mind is calm and silent, the thin hair (neural pathway) acts like a highway to infinity. Because the neural pathway in the brain is so so so small, it is smaller than the bridge. Passing to the abode of enlightenment becomes easy.

Scientifically:

The thin hair is referred to as the  neural pathways (dendrites) that relays information from one neuron to another. It is the bridge that leads to information flows in our brain. The information can be analysed and converted into knowledge.

Watch the video clips (below) to genererate your own neurogenesis (neural connectivity) and neural pathways (highways to infinity).

Use Mahan's meditation method to initiate the neurogenesis in you, so that as you age, your health of brain is enhances; and your mind remains peaceful, productive, happy and creative.

Santhosam and peace be with you.

QUESTION & ANSWER: THE SCIENCE BEHIND MAHAN'S KUNDALINI MEDITATION METHOD

Question by a Disciple:

Guru..🙏🏻🙏🏻when u say concentrate on the tip of the nose ? pl elaborate ..eyes are close or slightly open ? or eyes are lightly close but focussing on the nose ? when do we move the concentration to the 3rd eye n the crest eye? pl guide..🙏🏻🙏🏻

RESPONSE BY GP MAHEN:

1. MAHAN'S FIRST STAGE INITIATION

Observe the tip of your nose, which means your eyes will be closed 75%. There are several benefits to this approach and they are outlined below (there is a science behind this method):

A. When you focus your eyes on the tip of the nose, the muscles holding the eye balls are streched and this streches the muscles from your cheek to the forehead.

B. The pressure on the forehead will put pressure on the pitutiary gland, as there are nerves running from the muscles in the forehead and the pituitiary gland.

C. Mahan's method then requires you to gently clench continuosly on your wisdom teeth.

D. When you continuoulsly clench the wisdom teeth while your eyes is focussed on the tip of the nose (75 percent) closed, the pressure on the forehead will resonate on the pituitary gland.

E. This resonation is felt by the pituitiary gland - the pitutiary gland will then will be in a stimulated state (awareness/unarvu state). The hypothalamus which is close to the pituitary gland acts as the communication channel that channels messages to the pituitary gland (via hormones via the blood stream). In the process, all the neurotransmitters in the brain, nervous system and spinal cord are stimulated.

F. This awareness has two positive impact - first, the awareness (vibration) helps neutralises all other thoughts, leading to quietitude of the mind (relaxed and peaceful feeling). Second, the stimulated pituitiary glands starts releasing important hormones in the blood stream, which harmonises all the glands. Pituitary gland is known as the master gland. Both the positive impacts help you feel relaxed and at the same time be fully alert & aware of your SELF- excellent precondition for enlightened state of living. A more quieter mind, helps raise the bandwidth of the mind (neurotransmitters in the brain). This will enhance the sharpness of the mind, creativity and give you a sense of peace and tranqulity.

2. MAHAN'S 2ND STAGE INITIATION

*********

The energy is brought to the base eye of the spine by the guru. The disciple should practice this when they feel intense head ache, or suffer from high blood pressure or other bodily ailments. Once in while the second stage should be done to rejuvenate the body. Ladies who are experiencing their monthly period should practice the second stage. If you are unable to get the sensation at the base eye, use the casurina seed to obtain the sensation in the base eye. As the energy flow from the third eye to the base eye, the entire neurotransmitters in your spinal cord are fired up. You will feel as though insects are moving all over your body. Nothing to worry - what you are feeling is the electromagnetic field permeating all over your body (opening of the neurotransmitters give that sensation). This step will rejuvenate and strengthen the body.

3. MAHAN'S THIRD STAGE OF INITIATION

************

Once the guru has given you this initiation, you should focus your concentration on the top/crest eye. You will feel a pressure at the top eye and a swirling sensation at the top eye. The pineal gland is further stimulated by this practice. This releases the hormones called melatonin that regulates your sleep pattern - it gives you peaceful and blissful feeling.

Refer to the I-GOD book on the different parts of the brains that are stimulated during the practice of Mahan's kundalini meditation method.

=========================

Q. What is an optimal practise method and time?

RESPONSE:

It varies from person to person. For early stage practitioners, a meditation seating should be for 20 to 30 minutes per session, a minimum of two times a day. Spend 50 percent on 1st stage and another 50 percent on 3rd stage.

For more advanced practioners all three eyes will resonate simultaneously.

To benefit from this practise and to be connected always to the universal vibration (kundalini), always keep your attention on your third eye when you are participating in all your activities.

There will be a stage in your life you will be always be feeling the kundalini vibration, be inspired by this universal connected state of existence. The mind will always be peaceful & calm. The intellect will go deeper & become sharper. You will be amazingly creative & productive and pemeate bliss always.

Hope the information provided is useful

BENEFITS OF MEDITATION TO IMPROVE OUR QUALITY OF LIFE

The short clip below shows the benefits of meditation, which I  experienced by practising Mahan's kundalini meditation.

As I started experiencing changes for the better in me after practising meditation, I wanted to see if these were 'placebo effect' or were they real effect.

When I started looking carefully the scientific literature on meditation and mindfulness literature,  I realised that Mahan's meditation was changing the underlying structure of my brain, thinking process, helped me be focussed, attain immense peace & happiness; and gave me sense of meaning and purpose of life.

It gave me glimpses of blissful and enlightening experiences, as documented in the scientific literature and the biographies of Mahan and other great saints & sages.

Over the 45 years of practise, the blissful and enlightening experiences increased and deepened.

I cannot emphasise enough on the importance of meditation in our life.

May you too experience these wonders of life via meditation.

Santhosam and peace be with you.

QUESTION & ANSWER ABOUT GP MAHAN'S TEACHINGS

Question by a meditation practioner:

With respect to the excerpt shared on the main chat (given above). I have a genuine query.

May I ask if this is from G.P. Mahan’s I-GOD Philosophy book? I’m interested in understanding its source and context.

ANSWER BY GP MAHEN

The quote can be found on page 244, Paragraph 2, GP Mahan's I-GOD book, 6th Edition

Here is the context of the quote.

When one practices meditation (rising kundalini), it will raise the heat at the nape & throughout the spinal cord. A few things happens:

1. Our body's bioelectromagnetic force field increases as we practice Mahan's version of kundalini meditation. Bioelectromagnetic force field is also known as kundalini meditation. Our body temperature becomes elevated slightly, as we intensify our meditation.

2. When we partake in the activities mentioned in the quote, our body's metabolic rate increases due to various hormonal changes. Hormonal changes also impact our body temperature, health and personality.

3. Slight increase in body temperature may give fever like symptoms. However, over time, the body will get used to the elevated body temperature. For very experienced practitioners the body heat emanates as their bodily aura - the glow around their head and upper body. I have seen and experienced Mahan's bodily aura when serving him during his stay in our home.

4. Most germs and microbes in the body can exist at particular body temperature. When the body temperature is elevated due to kundalini meditation, some of the microbes will find it hard to live.

5. A small temperature change in the body impact the microbe world in our body. This helps the body be immune from the adverse impact of these microbes. Some good microbes are also impacted. But, this can be addressed by eating healthy food and exercise.

6. The elevated body temperature also help us manage very well in cold countries. I lived in Canada for 12 years, meditation helped me manage the cold weather very well.

Hope this information is useful.

Santhosam and peace be with you.

BENEFITS OF YOGA, EXERCISE AND MEDITATION

May you have a great day ahead.

The picture below is some a summary of scientific evidence that show the benefits of yoga, exercise and meditation to the mental health and our enlightening process.

Take some time to keep your body and mind healthy to get the best experience from your life.

Exercise and meditation helps overcome depression, anxiety and other ailments.

Allocate 30 minutes a day for exercise (yoga or walking) and 30 minutes (intensive meditation) and you will see that the mind will find it easy to be in a 'mindfulness' state for the remaining waking state.

A healthy body and brain will result in a productive mind and sharp intellect. All of which are important for an enlightened and happy life.
